The purpose of an air admittance valve is provided an alternative method to extending a vent through the roof to the open atmosphere. AAVs are one-way valves that allow air in to protect against siphonage of a plumbing fixture trap while not allowing gases or odors out. Ragnar's air admittance valves have been tested 500,000 cycles and meet all of the requirements of ASSE 1051.
