Standard cross-peen hammers strike objects and shape material in everyday applications where a non-sparking hammer isn't needed. Their peened face is wedge shaped to strike more accurately than a ball peen and to protect fingers from the blow. They are commonly used to set pins or tacks in corners and tight spaces.
